Coordinate Measuring on Total Station / finding coordinate
The coordinates of the instrument station are represented by the coordinates of the point where prism is set out after noting the height of the instrument station and the height of the prism . it should be remembered that to now the coordinates of a point sight is taken toward some known point . the is called back-sighting. in this way the coordinate of the points are found of it by placing the prism ate these pints by turn by turn method is as follow;
coordinates of the center of the prism originated from the center point of the instrument (n,e,z)

Coordinate Measuring of instrument station .
The Total station can be used to find the coordinates of the instrument station with the help of position of two known point. for this purpose ,prism is placed at the two known point and the total station is set at any point to find its coordinates . this action is called Resection.
