Continuous Slab Design
Such a one way slab which lengthwise distributes its weight on more than two supports is called continuous slab. The method of design of such a slab is like that of two simply supported slabs. The only difference is that of the two a negative bending moment acts its interior support.Taking this fact the formula for following are in to consideration steel is designed for this slab.
The second deference in design of this of this slab is that the formula for calculate and moments on external and internal panels are not the same as for one panel simply supported.
Following are the formula for calculating moment in this case.
- 1 positive bending moment (at mid span)
Interior span= (+) wl2/12
- 2 negative bending moment (at support)
Internal supports of exterior spans = (-) wl2/10
Internal supports of interior spans = (-) wl2/12
- Note:
To provide uniform thickness of slab (d), maximum value of B.M. is considered while for area of steel relevant B.M. is considered for each case. You Might Read These Posts.
