Explanation of RCC Structure With Beams And Columns
R.C.C Structurescement concrete is very rigid in compression and comparatively weaker in tension. Component of plain concrete are used for enduring compression and component of reinforced cement concrete are used for enduring tension. The ration of cement soil and is kept around (1:2:4) magnitude of steel is retained from 0.8 present to 8 percent in this ratio different component of R.C.C are explained below.
R.C.C columns;-
in framed structure building vertical members are known as columns , load is provided at their edges.If load is applied over the centre o cross-section of column ,then this column will be known as axially loaded column .If load is not applied over the centre then such columns will be known as Eccentric loaded column .Application of load over centre brings about compression while centre graze load also brings about tension and moments . if column fail in pure compression due to load then this column is called short slenderness rating is use to determine the satisfactory .difference between short column and long column .Following formula is used for slenderness ration.
Slenderness ration = L / D
where
L = Length of column
D =Least Dimension of Column
If ratio comes up to 15 then it is short column an if ration comes over 15 then it is Long Column .
Columns are designed in various shapes including squared rectangular and circular column base is also built rectangular for making rectangular column but column base is built square shaped for all other types of columns .Depth of columns base is kept according to the design in order to sustain the budget and depth of surroundings is kept lower safely .This will not affect the strength of column base .
STEEL IN COLUMN ;-
Description about steel bars in column and column base is explained below.
Main Bars
Main bars are steel bars that are used in column towards height and with steel bars are designed according to load that is being applied over the column these bars are employed with
diameter of 5 mm to 50mm (2'' to 3/8'' ) .Concrete cover is provide in base out of steel bars from 7 to 10 cm (2.5 to 4 inches)
LONGITUDINAL BARS ;-
Longitudinal bars are steel bars that are used in column vertically toward height of the column . Number of longitudinal bars is kept 4 in squared and rectangular shaped columns. Number of longitudinal bars is kept 6 in circular shaped columns .Concrete cover out of steel bars is kept around 2 to 3 cm in columns or concrete cover is kept equivalent to the diameter of steel bars .Diameter of steel bars is kept approximately 5 mm to 50 mm as per load being applied over the column.
STIRRUPS
Stirrups are rings that are set around the steel bars at successions in order to protect them from buckling .Pitch is the distance between centres of two rings or stirrups . This distance is kept equivalent of smallest portion of column or tit will equivalent to twelve time of diameter of smallest longitudinal steel bars used column however measurement of pith is not increased than 30 centimetre (12 inches ) .In case of circular shaped column continuous steel wire is wrapped around the steel bars instead of rings or stirrups .This wiring is known as helical binding .The pitch of helical binding should not be less than 3 times of its diameter and should not excess 1/6 of diameter of column.
BEAM ;-
In framed structure building horizontal members are known as beam and they are used to endure load of different part of the building parts of the building .If beam directly conveys load to the supports then this beam will be known as primary beam . If beam conveys load to another beam then smaller beam to which load is being conveyed will be known as secondary beam .Beam has various types as follow.
CANTILEVER BEAM ;-
Cantilever beam is he beam of which one comer has been fixed into he wall while other being free .Steel bars are used close to upper surface int his type of beam because tension occurs in upper potion in this type of beam,
SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAM ;-
Simply supported beam is the beam in which both ends of the beam are place over the vertical supports without fixing the ends of the beam .In this type of beam main bars are used to laid in beam close to lower portion of the beam that are known as anchor bars .The objective of anchor bars is to sustain Main Bars Late rings are set around main bars and anchors bar as well. |These rings are known as stirrups .
OVER HANGING BEAM
It is a like simply supported beam . The only difference is that corners or eds of the beam are not placed over the vertical supports rather they are placed in fashion that they will be over hanging vertical support Sometimes one corner of the beam will over have vertical support and some times both corner of the beam will be over hanging vertical supports . In this type of beams main bars are used to be laid in beam close to lower portion of the beam . Relatively thin steel bars are laid in upper portion of the beam that are known as anchor bars .The objective of anchor bars is to sustain .Main bars later rings are set around main bars and anchors bars as well .These rings are known as stirrups .

CONTINUOUS BEAM ;-
When beam is built continuously over three or more supports then it is called continuously beam . still bars are designed in same fashion as in simply supported beam or over hanging beam.
FIXED BEAM ;-
Fixed beam is built over two supports and its corners are fixed with supports .In this type of beam main bars are used to be laid in beam close to lower portion of the beam . Relatively thin steel Base are laid in upper portion of the beam that are known as Anchor Bars . The objective of anchor bars is to sustain main bars later rings are set around main bars and anchors bars as well these rings are known as stirrups .
T-BEAM ;-
T-beam and slab are built monolithic.Therefore width of slab endures the load along with the rib .Steel bares or Armin bars are set through lower portion of the beam upper portion of the beam is known as flange .In flange ,steel bars are used for beam along with steel bars intended for slab .Rings are employed to make steel bars remain at the same position and place .These rings are called stirrups .This type of beam is called T-BEAM because .It looks like English alphabet ''T'' .If T-beams are built around the room then their shape like ''L''.
