Triangulation Method or Procedure
This Triangulation Method is very useful at country level . All the steps of this survey are carried out carefully . Following are the stages of this survey
Reconnaissance survey
Selection of station
Erection of signals
Measuring of angles
Measuring of Base line
Checking and correction of work.
RECONNAISSANCE SURVEY Triangulation Method
Triangulation survey is conducted for a very bast area . it is also carried out in a very accurate way . therefore , such time and cost is required .the whole area is assessed before starting the survey . This assessment of the area is called Reconnaissance survey . The features of the area are known after roaming about the whole area . if an area is very vast then aroplane or helicopter is used for this purpose . the site of setting up of survey stations are also assessed . Base line is also decided different sites are also considered for this purpose .After this consideration Base Line and survey station are decided . In addition to this the routes of approach of the station. place for stay of surveying party and their food requirements are also considered.SELECTION FOR STATIONS .
After reconnaissance survey the task of the selection of survey stations is carried out . for this the maps prepared before hand are studied In this way the heights and distance of the survey stations are found out . If such a map is not present there , then a preliminary Rough Triangulation survey is conducted . Then the sites for station point are decided .Following points are to be considered during the selection of such sites
- A triangle for viewing the three stations.
- The angles of the triangle should neither be less than 30 degree no greater than 120 degree .
- There should be an easy approach for the station point
- Many information can be got from each station point .
- Adequate distance should be there between station point .
- It should not ve costly to remove hurdles between station point
- There should be minimum expenditures on removal of the factors affecting the line of sight.
- station points should be at some height for example a minaret a high building or a hill so that less expenduture is incurred for installing signals etc .
