How To Find Missing Line Measurement MLM on Total Station
First of all open the Tripod and expand it on the ground and level the tripod plate .Now keep the total station on tripod plate and tight it with plumbing fork now do the centering of Total station and go to stn data(station data) option . this option is available in co-ord option . Press the function key and put the station data and back sight data. The Back sight option is also available in this menu . For finding Back sight data click Here ( Finding Back Sight Data) then press Obs option to do observation on Back Sight Point .Now you have Back Sight Data the Instrument (Total Station) is Ready for work . Now if you want to find Missing Line Measurement (MLM) the procedure is below .
MLM means is stand for Missing Line Measurement . function of MLM is to find cross section of the Road . MLM tell us the distance between two point .we can find the MLM to two method
1) if we have already the point and recorded I mean presence in the job .
2) if you want to observe the point and finding MLM.
For finding Missing Line Measurement (MLM) first of all go to Obs (Observation) and select the MLM option. This option is available in page 3 .Now go to this option and Meas the target . and focus the another target and press MLM option . then Machine will tell us horizontal distance (HD) vertical distance (VD)and slope distance(SD).
If we want to find the MLM of available point then we will go to MLM and select the Co-ord option . and enter the first target point coordinate and press OK and enter another point Coordinate and press ok the machine will tell you MLM.

Second way to find Missing Line Measurement MLM
Here another way to find MLM First of all go to MLM option . The option will aviable in page 3 . Now go to Meas option and keep the prism on center point and press obs . this data will appear below in imageNote only Z . you can note also N ,E if you need it if you didn’t need it Z is needed for MLM Option then go to MLM option and press meas option . some reading will appear on the total station screen . Note Only VD(vertical distance)
Now you have all the value available is for finding Cross section . if the value of VD is in Minus then Minus for Z and If the value of VD is in Plus then plus it with Z .
This procedure is only for one point . you will do this procedure for all point .what point you needed.

Z + VD = Right/Left Level
