Stairway Today i am writing about the Stair Layout as you know that last time i published a post about the R.C.C structure some of my website viewers comment about to make a guide about Stair Layout on total station. So i make a simple and easy post about in which i explain you all about Stair-Layout with diagram .

 Stair Layout or Types according to Layout

Stairs have following types according to Layout

1. Straight Flight Stair
2. Quarter Turn Stair
3. Half Turn Stair
4. Geometrical Stair 
5. Bifurcating stair 
6. Circular Stair.

1.Straight Flight Stair
Straight flight stair is designed in building if designated lace is straight and has no turns. If building has big height and more than 15 steps are intended to be constructed , then landing is provided in the middle and direction of stairs is kept straight.

2.Quarter Turn Stair .
when design place for satires in buildings is available is some straight and some and 90 degrees at left or right then stair is designed in quarter turn which is known as quarter turn stair. landing is provided where turn situates and landing will be equal to the width of the stairs.

3.Half Turn Stair 
when designated place for stairs in building is available in rectangular form , then two flights of stair are designed in such manner that ascending person takes turn of 180 degrees. Landing is provided at termination of one of flight . This landing is provided in front of two flights in with width equal to width of stairs.This type of stair is diversely used if inner of both of flights are met in to plan during construction of this type of stair  , the it will be known as Dog Legged Stair and if distance is maintained in inner direction then it well be known as open newel stair or open well stair. Advantage of this stair is that light and fresh air will always find its way through this stair .IF place is narrow then Dog legged stair has be constructed.

4.Geometrical Stair
Geometrical stair is a stair which has more than one flights and steps are made instead of landing between two flights at turning spot .Person ascending or descending this type of stair faces inconvenience .However this type of stair is constructed is very short location steps ,Steps will be different from normal steps at turning spots that looks of triangular shape.These triangular steps are known as winders.

5.Bifurcating stair

Bifurcating stair is a stair which bifurcates in more than two directions.This type of stair will be wider in start and every part of it will become narrow after bifurcation and landing is provided at spot of bifurcation . This type of stair is favorable for railway stations,assembly halls and cinema halls etc.

6.Circular Stair :-

Circular stair will be constructed in building if designated location or spot for stair is square shape or circular shape .Despite , circular stairs are also constructed in building to create architectural delicacy in the building . Ascending person will move up in circular order. If this type of stair is made wider from above than the lower portion ,then it will be known as spiral stair.
